Concern about NYU prospects/chances

Hello, in the fall i will be attending Adelphi University, and I wish to gather some advice to transfer into my dream school, NYU. I know i will need around a 3.8 4.0 GPA, because of my high school stats (poor) 970 SAT and 2.6 gpa freshman, soph and bumped it to a 3.1 (85) junior year and a 3.5(89) my senior year (i realized good grades are actually important). Please let me know just what i need to do to be able to have a very good chances at admission into NYU CAS. Also, if NYU does not work out, I am also considering Fordham University LC. I would like to know what I should do to improve my chances to almost that of a match/safety school. I am looking to transfer ASAP! Pleast let me know what I must do to become EXTREMELY competitive at these schools such as certain EC's that look good for transfer students, I will do whatever it takes. I am a Biochemistry major and wish to enter NYU medical school (is biochem a bad idea if i want to transfer?)

bump------i also worry about this, i had considered going to school at the University of Scranton, however the campus/area/demographics just didnt feel right to me, and i ended up enrolling at Adelphi (close to home) so that I could possibly focus more on my studies then on drinking (which i dont do anyway) and partying etc. Was this a good decision? i often doubt myself, please help. Scranton seemed like an old mining town, which I did not like/feel happy in. The catholic affiliation almost bothered me in a sense ( i come from a catholic HS) and i wanted an increase in overall diversity. However i am not thrilled about Adelphi either, which is why i want to transfer. This is mainly why i chose Adelphi after being accepted into Hofstra for Spring 2007 (I would rather stick at Adelphi for 1 or 2 years than transfer to Hofstra. It seems that many people are super excited to being going to school where they are going, but I am pretty much the opposite. I am pretty sure that i want my undergraduate diploma to state a top ranked tier 1 or tier 2 school, although this may sound superficial, I am mainly looking for tier 1 schools because of the oppurtunities and research facilities. Please give me some guidance/assitance.

I know NYU doesnt allow retakes for the SAT, but does Fordham? I really want to ensure acceptance, possibly I could waive the SAT for NYU?

Then take the ACT and forget about the SAT. That would solve the issue there.

Regarding going to Adelphi, I think it's not only a better school but it was wise of you to stay close to home if you plan to transfer.

NYU has a 92% retention rate, so I'm not sure how easy it is to transfer. My guess is that it's in your best interest to spend at least one whole year at Adelphi to get your grades way up for a long time, then try. I also hope you aren't trying to get into Tisch or Stern, because that will be a nightmare.

Thanks for your reply, any more opinions/suggestions on my situation are greatly appreciated. I need some sound advice about applying as a transfer to NYU/Fordham to mak the transition easier, and when I should apply. Thanks!

Also, would Fordham University be an easier reach for SOPHMORE transfer? considering my HS stats were poor but had a sharp upward trend in the GPA. If i maintain a high GPA in college, how is Fordham looking?

i think fordham will be easier to get into but i dont know what their avg. sat's, gpa, etc are...you might want to research that before applying
