Concerned about SAT Subject Scores

Bio E: 740
Math II: 780

I am rather disappointed with my biology score. Is 740 a score that is good enough to send to top ivy schools and others like Cal and Stanford? Among Asian applicants, I’m not sure whether or not my scores are good enough. I heard that UC schools accept the December SAT reports, but my application will be delayed for review, and may negatively impact my admission. Should I think about retaking Math II as well?

Forgot to add, I’m applying as a bioengineering major.

Sorry to say it, but your scores are no top among applicants of any ethnicity. My son is Hispanic, from Central America, and his subject test scores are: Math II - 800; Physics - 790; Bio E 730. He took Math II and Bio E in June but decided to take Physics in October because did not consider his Bio E to be anything to write home about. He’ll be applying with Math II and Physics. Your scores will be considered good or bad in comparison to the applicant pool, regardless of ethnicity.

Well, you didn’t get too much help there from kittymom1102. Your scores are fine. Your scores help to show you can do the work at any top school. It’s the rest of the application that will determine if you are admitted or not. Admittedly there is probably a high correlation among 800 SAT Subject test scores and strong points in the rest of the application, but many, many top applicants have scores lower than yours. You will do better for yourself if you spend time on essays rather than trying to raise a 740 score. Good luck to you.
