I am a senior in High School and for several reasons; I believe that I will be attending UF. I really want to end up at a top tier Business School. However, after reading a few of the discussion threads I'm having second thoughts about Undergraduate GPA's and their importance in the Graduate school admissions process. If having an ivy league lineage is all that matters when you apply for graduate school, then is seems that working hard at a somewhat mediocre undergraduate school would be futile. I am open to any suggestions or comments that any of you might have on this particular topic. Thank you.

This is an overworked, overrated, underperforming, underproven topic.... it's like a rotting horse with maggot infested holes that people are shoving aluminum bats through.

But to calm you down a little bit, GPA is only a portion of the MBA admission's criteria... regardless of where you go, the higher GPA's are going to get the edge on consideration, ALL other things being EXACTLY equal. Notwithstanding, the best you can do for yourself to get into a good MBA school is get some kick ass work experience after undergrad, so go somewhere you will stick out to recruiting employers so you can get a good job, be VERY charismatic/intelligent/focused, and land at USNWR's top B-school. And, when all is said and done, you can join the rest of us in the daily grind we all experience and label "life"!

Oh yeah, and remember, do exceptionally well on your GMAT test, and get a good GPA wherever you go---even if it is Urban Meyer's wife's pimp. (sorry, I'm a Ute fan)
