Is parking difficult around campus? Is it convenient enough to stay at a hotel near the airport and drive in to the campus for the Honors Weekend? Thanks.

MM: I have never had trouble parking near campus, even during move-in days and Parents'/Homecoming weekend. You may have to walk a few blocks, but we have always found street parking just to the west of campus -- between McAlister and Broadway.

I prefer to stay in the Quarter and take the streetcar. Once we were forced by prices (a huge convention in town) to stay in ahotel by the airport. It was a very easy 20 minute drive to and from campus -- although I-10 can get clogged at certain times.

Thanks, concerneddad. I have been making reservations today and the hotels close to the university are pricey and most are full. Since we have to fly in and rent a car I am trying to keep this trip under $1,000 and the hotels at the airport are real inexpensive. Since D is going to do an overnight on Sunday I really don't need to be in the quarter - I'm not one to roam around alone.

my wife and I did a Priceline request at the airport and got the Sheraton Four Points for around $60.00 per night. However, when my son and I firsted visited Tulane we stayed at the Marriot on Canal Street for $65 per night through Priceline. If you have never tried them, you might consider it: I have never been disappointed in the value I have gotten or the quality of hotel.

I have to agree about priceline. Concerneddad, you or someone else here said that before, and so I used them when I just couldn't find a room in Nashville for a Vanderbilt visit last week and was so impressed with what we got for the money. And it saved the headache of the fruitless searching. This week we had a music thing in Savannah, and I went straight to priceline and got a room in the historic district on the waterfront for peanuts.

Yes Jax, I have stayed in some pretty incredible hotels for very little $$$ using priceline.

Parking near campus is pretty easy. Finding a spot on campus during classes can be impossible.
