Can someone compare and/or explain about Honors (810 accepted) vs. Humanities Honors (50 accepted)? D got into both. Thanks for any info you may have.

@ginab591 and oregonianmom, thank you :D

For the person thinking about the Gemstone dorm, definitely live there!! It is not worse than any of the other high rises (which, by the way, it what the freshman get put into, so basically you don't really have a chance to get into one of "better", 2-story dorms on McKeldin Mall). I am in Gemstone right now, and it's definitely advantageous to live in Ellicott because you get to know and make friends with the people who are in your classes. Also, I've noticed it is a lot quieter than the other dorms, which is good if you want to study or whatnot (by more quiet I mean there arent people screaming up and down the halls). If you really dislike the idea, then you definitely can request to live in honors housing or neither, and just get put into the regular applicant pool. I should note that the Gemstone dorm is directly across from the entrance to the dining hall and it is the most convenient place to live when its cold and you don't want to walk far for dinner....also its across the street from the gym (the honors dorm is in the next community over, so its a walk to the gym or the diner). Hope this helps!
