Concerning first try/retake

I got a 2240 (800 CR, 740 Math, 700 Writing) on my first SAT in March with absolutely no preparation other than taking a PSAT (I just took it to see how I'd do). I'm very happy with the results but am wondering if I should take it again. 2240 seems respectable, but will a 2300 or say even a 2400 make a huge difference when applying to "elite" schools? I can almost guarantee a superscore 2300 since i got a 740 on math and I am usually very good at math.

Also any advice for scoring a perfect on writing? I got a 10 on the essay but the stupid sentence corrections are what hurt me.

I imagine with a few practice tests from the blue book, you’ll score a perfect, seeing as the 2240 was without prep.

Good job on the critical reading by the way :)
