I plan on getting a laptop this summer but I'm also aware a printer is much better then having to pay for each printed sheet at the labs. I have a HP psc 2175 currently that prints, copies and scans. Should I bring that up? or should I just get an inexpensive printer. If I leave it at home, it will most likely just sit around collecting dust, whereas I will use it up at College. The only problem is space--it's huge compared to some of the latest inkjet printers...and I'm worried it might get stolen. What would be your advice?

well, paying per page is cheaper than buying a printer usually (inkjet prints are fricking expensive) and you get it printed on a great looking commercial laser. If its a printer in your dorm, that might be all you need (and it draws from an account or your tuition) but if its far away in the labs you will need a printer between you and your roommate.

I'd say just bring it if you've got it. Nobody is going to steal your printer (though they may use your ink if you leave it available to anybody on the network). If you can hide it in a corner or something, you then have a printer.

Unless your roomate has something better to offer.
