As a spring admit, my desired major was changed to "Undecided." Do I just "pick" my major when I get there? I want to go into either civil or mechanical engineering.

If you have been admitted as “undecided”, you will be in the school called USC College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences (CLAS.) You can easily just “pick” a major in that school (unless there is some special program I don’t know about.)

If you want to switch to a different school like Viterbi School of Engineering, you will have to apply (look at the info for Transfer students because USC defines prospective transfer students as anyone currently enrolled in college- even at USC.)
[USC - Viterbi School of Engineering - Transfer Applicants](http://viterbi.usc.edu/admission/transfer/)

When would I file for a transfer?

When you go to Orientation, talk to your advisor who can help you with your particular situation.

I’m not real familiar with this but you MIGHT be able to contact admissions now to see if you can get into Viterbi now. Some students were able to do that before final admissions decisions were made. It’s worth a try.
