im an international applicant from Asia (i know its probably the most competitive group to the those top schools)
i understand the acceptance rate for international students is less than 3%, which is even much lower than the overall acceptance rate like 9%

im wondering what areas Yale/Ivies want to see from international applicants?
i do have good grades (94.5/100, rank top 5%) and good ECs (one-year exchange program in MN, GPA 3.83 UW) and good recs from teachers
but obviously my standard tests are not as good as those that I saw from typical Asian-American kids in CC, compared to the Ivy league standard
my SAT is just like somewhere around 2000 cuz Critical Reading really needs lots of vocabulary in my second language which i couldn't readily build in a short period

any helps with my concerns would be really appreciated... please....

hmmm phoebelll u sure? cause i’ve heard other people say the same about international applicants and interviews…
which is really starting to bother me hmmmm where’s my interview??? ahhhhhhh

@iamhopeful–
im sure you can find the stats somewhere on CC cuz i found them in the thread

@ZishuAW–
i totally understand those damn scores are just not enough for those Ivies and i dont think im a stand-out applicant with some hugh hooks either

well im never expecting though
im well prepared…to fail…

Be prepared, but still work hard! Do the best you can, lzs0109. But of course, if I were you I would focus my energy on a school that suits me best~
To iamhopeful - Well, an associate dean of admissions who is responsible for int’l applicants from Asia once said it during an interview, and I kind of came across the record.
Wow, CC is becoming my biggest online dwelling besides college websites and mailbox.

yeah thx bro
im quite positive that i will find a good school in the states cuz im probally more like a leader type person instead of some one who could spend several months cramming test prep books
when i came back to China this Aug, im really dedicated to a non-profit corporation
and i just took the SAT and TOEFL in my spare time
i understand that the results are not doing any good for application to any top school but i wouldn’t regreat
good luck with ur application

@Ravenbelle
the stats are not for Chinese students apparently but for the overall inl’ applicants pool
i think u might wanna check the stats thread which shows the inl’ acceptance rate

wow 3 percent for all international applicants? r u freaking kidding me? whoa well that sorta makes me feel better hehe considering i’m not the only one competing with so many people haha
doesn’t make any sense huh

Personally I do think you stand a chance. Applicants do not euqual to statistics, and Yale look at your personality and leadership experiences…etc If you r a leader type of person, great! No one ever knows how Yale’s AOs’ brains work, and no one ever knows what gets them into Yale! Probably not ONLY because of SATs! You never know whether you have a chance or not until the day the results release! So let’s just wait!
