Concerns regarding Math 2 Subject Test

As a non-math person, I have some concerns about the Math 2 Subject Test and placement into math courses at UNC. Below is a summary of my questions -- can anyone comment and help me out?

Thank you.

I have signed up to take the SAT Math 2 Subject Test in order to receive my math placement before I enter UNC as a freshman this fall. However, as a student looking to major in Public Policy or a related field, I am concerned about potential placement into math courses. It is my understanding that if I score between 520 and 590 on the Math 2 Subject Test, I will be placed into Math 152 (Calculus for Business and Social Sciences Students), but if I score a 600 or higher, I will be placed into Math 231 (Single Variable Calculus).

Alternatively, if I take the SAT Math 1 Subject Test and score above a 520, I will not take Math 231, but will place out of Math 110.

Because I am not planning on focusing on a math-intensive field upon entering UNC, is it feasible to take the Math 1 Subject Test, take Math 152 as needed, and not place into Math 231?

If I do not place into Math 231, will I ever be able to the course if, at a later date, I discover that I need to take it?

you really have such specific questions you need to call the math dept.
If you took an AP course in Math either Calculus AB or BC you don't really need the subject test the most it will get you is INTO 231. You probably should just take it if no AP, then register for the one you want. You don't have to take 231 is my guess and the math dept can tell you if it will get you
into 152.
