Concerns that I have about UCLA... help!

Hi everyone!

I’m an international student from Malaysia that has been accepted to UCLA. I’m wondering if it’s worth it to go to UCLA as an international student, especially since the cost is so much higher. I was watching a bunch of UCLA Pros and Cons videos and I’ve seen many people mention that the competition at UCLA is very high and that it is extremely difficult to get into the classes you want/need for your major and the entire class enrollment process is super stressful. I’ve also heard that student support at UCLA is lacking - I heard someone talk about how the counsellors were bad, the advisors were bad, etc etc… All this is making me doubt whether I should choose UCLA, can anyone offer further insight into this? Is the competition really as bad as people make it out to be or is it somewhat bearable? I’m uncertain if it’s worth it to pay so much, despite the prestige that UCLA has.

Thank you!

You have an existing thread on this: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/2136691-bates-vs-grinnell-vs-northeastern-vs-ucla.html

How is anybody supposed to advise you if they don’t know your other options? Better to just repost this in the thread with all the choices.

If your choices are Bates, Grinnell, Northeastern, or UCLA, I’d pick Bated or Grinnell - especially since those are your concerns.

The very last place I would go for for advice is YouTube or Facebook for college opinions, because the vast majority of them are wrong or just venting.

In general, at almost any school, small or big, if you do the right planning and register on time, you’ll get the classes that you need 99.5% of the time. Similarly at all schools big and small, if you seek out advising help, you’ll find it.
