Concert Band Vs. Other Classes

I'm going to prep school next year and I have a problem.

I want to try out for this band for high school students at the University of Michigan and if I get in, I'm not sure if I would still want to do it in school. The downside of the school band program is that it is only three days per week, so I'd pretty much have a two hour lunch. I'm sure it would be fun the first few weeks, but I don't want to just use it as a study hall or a social hour.

The advantages of not taking band is that I could take geometry and algebra II at the same time or take three foreign languages.

However, there is an arts requirement. Should I just take band my freshman year or wait to fulfill the requirement?

Thanks.

bump .

Take it, even if only to fufill the arts requirement. Band is too much fun to pass up.

What three foreign languages would you take?

French II, Spanish II, and Latin I or French II, Spanish II, and Chinese I.

bump .

I would NOT take band, heaven forbid no. unless you got wonderful teachers that is

I've been taking band since fifth grade and I really enjoyed it, but I could still be in a band it just wouldn't be during school.

I used to love it then I got these absolutely AWFUL teachers :(

I did band since 3rd grade. I love band!
