Conclusion Length for a 12 Essay?

I get the feeling that introductions are much more important than conclusions. Personally I write maybe ~5 sentence intros, but only 1-2 sentence conclusions (I run out of space/time every time :/).

What is a "good" length for a conclusion? I'd especially like to hear from those who scored highly on past essays - how long was your conclusion?

That's true. Intros are more important that conclusions, in my opinion. I got two 12's and for both my essays, I wrote 5 (long) sentence intros and 3 sentence conclusions. My feeling is that if you write two sentence conclusions or one sentence conclusions, that's a bit too risky. You don't wan to leave the reader hanging. You basically want to spend one sentence restating your thesis, and two-ish sentences expanding your thesis by making an interesting insight, a generalization, or just leaving off with an illuminating thought.

bump, i have to take it tomorrow lol.

basically you don't want to leave the reader hanging - that's what the conclusion's for, regardless of length. of course, it's a bonus if you can leave the reader with a nice warm feeling, like TIME magazine articles do... I always try to achieve that for any essay I write. :D

i got a 12 on my essay and here's some key points

length matters, just start writing, don't make a web or anything

4 paragraphs, intro, 2 bodies, and conclusion

bodies should each have a supporting reason, from literary (make up a book if you have to, I did), scientific, or historical examples (these should be mentioned in a thesis statement in first and last paragraph

I agree that the conclusion doesn't need to be long, I put an intro sentence, state my thesis again, and end with something catchy

you made up a book? ahahha

I got an 11 and didn't even get to my conclusion...wrote 1 3/4 pages
