College Confidential,

I am pretty sad because I just found out that I received a B in my physics course and am now trying to figure out what I should do for next semester.

Would it be worthwhile to try and take CS61A or CS70 at UC Berkeley to try and make my application as appealing as possible. It is to my knowledge that the UC's will see what classes I am taking this upcoming semester but won't be able to see the grades. Since neither of the two classes are offered at my community college I thought it would be a good opportunity to try and get some prerequisites done that many other applicants won't have. However, I am conflicted because if my chances to get into Berkeley are so low, then I might be better off taking a course that might help me get into other UC's.

I am hoping that despite my three B's (my college does not give +/-). That I may still have a chance since I have I received an A- in a linear algebra & differential equations class at Berkeley over the summer.

I also managed to speak to an engineering counselor at Berkeley while I was there over the summer and she informed me that B's in non-major courses would not hurt my application provided that I maintain above the minimum GPA required.

I would be dropping COMSC200 if I were to do concurrent enrollment.

Based on my grades above, is my application still competitive enough that it would be a good idea for me to try and take more UC Berkeley pre-requisites or would I be better suited taking prerequisites for other UCs?

Thank You,
