Condition of Admission - H E L P

Okay so basically here's my story.
I'm an international student and I've been accepted to the class of 2015.

I've been a good student all my life. However these past few months, my grades have suffered because of my health. I was unable to come to school so I missed classes & tests. I flunked all my subjects in class. I just gave my finals and I managed to pull each subject up to a C"

The Berkeley conditions of admission state that we must have a "Minimum B unweighted overall and no grade must drop below a C" My school doesn't calculate either GPA or an overall grade. I have satisfied the 2nd part of the condition as no final grade is below a C.

I'm just afraid because of my class test grades which are all F's because I barely gave any test due to illness and my attendance was like 40%

Please let me know what I should do? Have my counselor write a note? Any suggestions and feed back will be helpful. I'm dying here!

Come on guys! 18 views and not a single comment. I could use the help.

just talk to the admissions officer listed on your myBerkeleyApp  I believe those two conditions are not independent, meaning you have to satisfy BOTH. like if you got a C and an A, you would still have a B average, but if you have all C’s you obviously have a C average. However, if your school calculates grades differently, admissions might be willing to work with you but you have to take the first step.

Looks like you are F U C K ed.

Haha no i’m joking. I just thought of a witty response and had to do it. I have no constructive comments though so just ignore me.

If you have a legit excuse, and your GC will back you up, then write a letter explaining the situation, promise it won’t happen again, etc.etc. Ask your GC to also write a letter, and then fax them into the Admissions office.

My guess is that they will let you slide if you are proactive. If you wait until finals transcripts get processed, they may automatically rescind.

The GPA is as Cal calculates it - they look at your final grades and figure out a GPA. They don’t look at or care about test grades, only the final grade for each semester or quarter.

That means you did not meet the conditions of admission and need to mount a serious effort right now to convince the school that you were not one of the many seniors who stopped working once they got into college - it is called senioritis because it is so common. If they think you didn’t take it seriously, you are rescinded. If they believe it is something else, then they can overlook the failure.

With early contact and strong evidence and a reasonable explanation, you have a chance. If you do nothing, you have very little chance of coming here next year.

Are you from Moscow? Or somewhere close?
Поговори с учителями. Они должны гордиться, что у тебя такой шанс учиться в Berkeley. Не верится, что в России это невозможно. Тем более, если были проблемы со здоровьем. Если были, конечно. Попроси мило. Может дадут extra work. Согласись на любые условия. Желаю тебе удачи.
