Hi,
Do CSUs care about grade ‘F’ in Foreign language other than English (Spanish 2 a - g requirement)? Student took Spanish 2 in final semester online to get better than the ‘D’ in Spanish but got ‘F’. Do they rescind the admission if a student doesn’t meet the requirement of a grade of C or better? Did anyone experience this situation? Any recommendations on options at the last minute?
Thanks,

Yes, failing a class, when a C or better was required, can be grounds for recision. You’ve already contacted the school, so that’s about all you can do.
It may be rescinded, the student may start on a type of probation, the student may be required to complete specific courses before moving to core Freshman classes, etc. The sooner you know the impact and any options, the sooner you can plan what’s next.
Your kid won’t have met the A-G requirements which is usually a disqualifier. I think most CSUs are giving more wiggle room this year - each case is really individual.
If you haven’t heard back by mid-day today, I’d call and see if you can talk to an admissions person live.
There are lots of people in similar situation, please post back what you learn.
Agree with @NCalRent. If the F is for Spanish 2, then the a-g course requirements have not been met (need 2 years of FL) at the minimum.
Again it will be up to each Cal state to determine their course of action but make sure the student has a backup plan.
Thank you, all. One of the CSU where he accepted has extended the deadline for transcript and advised to retake Spanish 2 in Summer. I am happy that he has a chance. We are also looking into community college as a backup plan.
@collegeMamaQuest: Glad he has options. Best of luck to him.
glad to hear they have given you some flexibility.
good luck with the retake.
