I was recently accepted to Cal Poly SLO. Since then I received a D+ in my second semester of Spanish two. I was wondering if this totally kills any chance I have of still attending the school or if there is anything else I can do to make it look better. I really did try in the class I just have a really hard time in Spanish, and my schools program is geared toward native speakers because of the area I live in. All of my other grades on my transcripts are A's and B's. I got a 1680 on the SAT and have tons of extracurriculars. Any advise or info would be great. Thanks.

Sorry for your troubles. You can stop swimming in worry by just picking up the telephone and calling them direct. Once you know the (hopefully) good news or even the bad, at least you’ll know what your next steps will be.

Your situation is not the first they’ve encountered. Maybe they’ll just give you a slap on the wrist and nothing more, maybe they’ll put you on a “probation” list where you really need to excel your first college year, maybe something worse. Dunno. But you can easily find out.

Fingers crossed for you. Good luck.
