My Son has got CA for the class of 2020. His planned major is BS in CS.
Similarly placed students could form a group and exchange information which would benefit all immensely.
I got conditional acceptance in to tech several years ago, and I am graduating in 5 days. I am not a CS major, but I know a lot of CS majors at tech, and I do have one piece of advice regarding the requirements for CS. All CS majors are required to take physics I, but not physics II. Although, they are required to take two lab sciences in sequence, and this can either be satisfied by taking physics II, or two semesters of another lab science. I think it would be easier to take two semesters of a different lab science such as earth and atmospheric sciences (EAS), or biology, than it would be to take physics II since physics II is one of the hardest classes offered at Georgia Tech. Also, if he gets a D in physics I, I would highly recommend he not take physics II as he would probably fail the class.
Also, for any class he takes at the school that he starts at, he needs to get a C or higher for the credits to transfer to Tech
Yes, Thank you. That’s a very valuable bit of information. He plans to take Physics I and II as a two course sequence in the alternate school because 1) its a logical progression in the course 2) It has a recognized transfer equivalence from the starting school. 3) Probably, the grading may not be as stringent as tech.
He needs an overall GPA of 3.3 or higher in Maths, science and overall in 30 transferable credits to transfer to tech in the second year.
He will be attending either PSU or UT,D as the starting school which should have an easier grading policy as compared to Tech. So, it might be a good thing to get physics I and II done with in the starting school.
Of course, the most important factor is, meeting the GPA requirements.
Congratulations on you upcoming graduation. My Daughter graduated from Tech last year.
Welcome your comments.
Oh yeah, I agree physics at Tech is brutal, if he has an opportunity to take it at another school he should definitely go for it, then he should be done with lab sciences
My DS rook physics at Tech one summer (Can’t recall if it was I or II). Had to jump through a lot of hoops to get the course approved and accepted by his home school. really? Not going to accept Physics from Tech??? LOL.
Why would he take physics at Tech instead of his home school???
Scheduling conflicts.
And was doing a summer internship in Atlanta, so killed 2 birds with one stone.
Hey, I was also offered conditional admission when I applied last year. Just sent my application off and hopefully will be attending in the fall upon completion of my 30 hours at the end of this Spring semester.
