Conditional appointment = LOA?

I got my conditional appointment (dependent upon medical) from USNA a few weeks ago, Im just wondering if it's considered an LOA. In my USMA LOA they actually said "letter of assurance" in the letter. Either way, I'm in as long as I get my eye waiver, so I'm happy. USAFA gave me a waiver, and I'm assuming USMA and USNA will give me waivers also.

Exactly what does your letter say? LOA's are pretty clear cut I think....is this a traditional Appointment letter, complete with package?

it doesn't matter.

LOA letter is very clear that it is a guarantee offer. This is from the LOA letter from the class of 2010.

Further in the letter

Please remember, however, that your guarantee offer of appointment is contingent upon completing all of your remaining admissions requirements. You must complete the following marked requirements by 1 March 2006 or this offer may no longer be valid. Please notify your Admissions Team if you need additional time to complete your medical exam.

The confusion comes that our terms we all use, the LOA or "Letter of Assurance" doesn't appear at all in the letter USNA uses. Profmom2's quotes are what my kiddo's LOA letter said, dated Oct. 3, 2005...I know I must have read and reread the letter a hundred times due to the fact that I was looking for the words: "letter of assurance" and could hardly believe that this letter my child had was actually what was meant by an LOA. Her BGO knew the letter was coming and confirmed for me that yes, THAT wording from USNA is indeed 'THE LOA LETTER'.

Is there such a thing as a "conditional appointment"? Of course, all appointments are conditional upon a number of things, but my understanding is they either offered ... or not.

Peskemom, we did the same thing, looking for those words "letter of assurance." He kept saying "Mom this is it!" Me, being the one who wants all the i's dotted and t's crossed..."Are you sure?"

He was correct... THAT is the LOA LETTER!

Thanks, my BGO had just described it as a conditional appoinment, I didn't realize it was the letter I've been waiting for since NASS.
