So I've been accepted to this conditional transfer program for Emory, and I know some of you other CC users have as well. I sent in my course approval form about a month ago (basically as soon as I knew what my schedule was). A lot of the classes are specific to my majors (Anthro and Global Studies) but I don't have a math or a lab class. I'm worried that these courses might not be approved, but I haven't heard anything from Emory. Does this mean my schedule has been approved? Do I need to worry about switching into a math and/or lab class?

Hi tharackomeena! I’m also on the Conditional transfer program and I have contacted Emory in order to know if my courses were approved. They told me that if there were any problems with my schedule, they would contact me. I am assuming if you did have problems, they would notify you, if not, I guess your course for this semester is cleared!

As for your second question, I know you do have to take a math and science (lab) in order to meet the requirements. I am taking a calc course this semester and probably a biology class next semester. I would definitely play it safe and take those classes either this semester (if you can add the class) or next semester.

Hope this helped you and good luck!!

Just sent mine today…crossing my fingers.

Hey all,
I just wanted to know–does Emory tell you that you’ve been accepted into a “Conditional Transfer Program” or do all accepted transfers fall into this category/program? I ask only because I was admitted for Fall '11 and deferred my admission to this Spring '12, but haven’t heard a word about a conditional program until reading this thread. I keep in constant contact with my admissions counselor, Tim Fields and one of the Associate Deans. Surely they would have said something about this…? I know the basics about everyone’s admission being contingent upon satisfactory completion of your current courses, but are there two “admission types” of transfer students? Course approval form!? Am I missing something/everything? I apologize for just jumping in. Thank you for any info you might have :)

Natalie

Hi Natalie!

I believe the Conditional Transfer Program is a different category because students are notified if you are accepted via email/mail (that’s when you get the course approval form and other important documents). It’s an opportunity for those who continued to stay on Emory’s waitlist and show interest in attending Emory to join the sophomore class.

Sorry if I’m not answering your questions… And what do you mean by “admission types”? I don’t think the students on the Conditional Transfer differ from the other students in the transfer process, if that’s what you mean (besides the application process).

Hi! I apologize for being vague. By “admission types”, I was just referring to the different ways in which a person can be admitted to Emory (i.e. conditional, early decision, etc.) However, after doing a little bit of research and reading your post, I now understand how the conditional admission works. I was admitted as a transfer student for the Spring semester, but just as a regular first-time undergraduate applicant, not under the conditional program. Thanks for the clarification!
