Deferred OOS student just got rejected but offered the Conditional Transfer Pathway for 2018. I am confused as to what this is. How is this program different from just applying as a regular transfer student for 2018? From my understanding it is still applying under a transfer program, not automatic acceptance if i complete the required guidelines right?
If anyone could help me understand I would appreciate it.
No. If you do take all the classes that are required, complete the number of credits required and have the GPA college required you WILL be accepted for transfer. If you were a regular transfer and did all that you still could be rejected.
Many students who are legacies are offered the conditional transfer, as long as their profiles are consistent with the accepted students. A regular transfer is very difficult at Ga Tech.
^ I thought all legacies were given the conditional transfer…
Not all of them are… if they aren’t in the range of accepted students.
Incorrect. Conditional admission is offered to all applicants with a legacy connection who are not admitted.
Really? How do I explain that to one of my students who was a legacy and was flat out denied…no conditional transfer?
I am confused as well. My son was denied and offered Conditional Transfer Pathway. He is not a legacy and no one in our family has ever attended Ga Tech.
::shrug:: who knows, didn’t list their legacy connection on the application, aren’t really a legacy, didn’t complete their application so didn’t get a decision? Hard to say. But a quick call will confirm what happens to legacies, unless you have some other info.
What are the chances of getting rejected once you apply in the conditional transfer pathway, after meeting all the requirements?
@tropicalgod the point of the conditional pathway is that IF you meet their stated requirements, you are automatically accepted for transfer.
@yankeeinGA @tropicalgod @heir2301 @MichiganGeorgia wait so if you were a conditional acceptance are you basically accepted? like could i tell people that i got into tech. sorry kind of immature question but just curious
@DB - Do you have a family member that works at GT or did your son apply for one of the majors below?
"Applicants who are not offered freshman admission and have a family member (grandparent, parent, sibling) who is an alumni or current employee of Georgia Tech will be given the opportunity to apply as a transfer student through the Conditional Transfer "

"Beginning in 2016, freshman applicants who are Georgia residents and not offered admission within the College of Design, Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, and College of Sciences may be given the opportunity to apply as a transfer student through the Arts and Sciences Pathway program. "

@aye123 - No …it would be best to say you have a conditional acceptance.
