whats up with that man lol isn't a D in like an AP course basically a C?

Well, a D is considered failing at UCSD...and since you can potentially get out of the chem 6 series if you take ap chem and the corresponding exam, well ;).

it was last year... you turn in your final transcript after school ends (that's why the deadline is july 12 or something like that). you can't get any D's or F's in APs because it's just the UC system requirements. The combined gpa varies between UCs but the D's of F's thing stays the same for all the UCs.

i don't mean to sound like a bi*ch but if you're getting a D or F in high school... how do you expect to suceed at UCSD where their grade curves are ridiculous.

i don't want to start any drama but it's the truth.

so if I get a D in an ap elective my admission would be rescinded? even if my GPA is above a 3.0 unweighted with the D?

i'm not an admissions rep, but yes. assumably and according to my phone call with the admissions lady, a D no matter what will give them the option of declining you.

but call them you guys... i think there is a contract that you can work out. i'm not really sure! =)

good luck everyone!

a D in A-G courses. so.. like getting F in PE is completely ok..

senioritis hit me hard :(

im worried about getting my admission rescinded also

but for another reason,
i had to drop AP stats to fit in another science class to graduate

thoughts..?
i emailed admissionstatus@ucsd.edu

all i got back was..

"We will add this to your file. Thank you. Best wishes."

!!!!!!!

Yeah, i switched from AP Physics to CP Physics Honors because my teacher got knocked up and didn't want to teach second semester and when i emailed them they said they will update my file, which to me was kinda like saying "thats neat, what would we care for, guess if you wanted to tell us we'll udate your file or something." So in my opinion they seem pretty relaxed on the changing planned courses thing.

Bout the D and F, yes they will take away your admission if you get that, so just try to get a C even for a day and then withdraw, because then you get it on your transcripts as a "Withdraw-Pass" whereas with a D or F you get a "Withdraw-Fail." Otherwise your only other options are to either email them and hope they are having a really good day (and be really complete with your explanation as to why so that you have a good excuse besides " I just don't care anymore") or obviously, just pass the class. :)

wait, so D or F in non a-g classes is okay
and D or F in a-g classes get you rejected?

correct, senson.

is computer science an A-G course? I would thikn not..but I'm not sure

thank god!

Conditions:

A] No D or F in any A-G course regardless. Even if you obtain a D or F in a non A-G course, it can still affect your admission status because a non A-G course is not highly regarded as challenging. I recommend that you drop that class and take an easy elective class instead such as visual performing acts or AP stats and get an A in it.

B] 3.0 gpa or above which is a combination of semester 1 & 2 of your senior year workload. It worked out for me because I worked hard my first semester and got a high gpa around 3.6. If I get a 2.8 in my second semester, I am still in.

wow, this makes me feel so much better

almost got a 4.0 first semester...
meaning i'm safe no matter what

yeah, i feel better too...i got 4.43 i could get straight C's if i wanted =]

i like how everyone is trying to work the system. hahahha

so i don't have to report them our first semester gpa if its a 2.9 cause i can get a 4.0 second semester and it'll average out?

Lets put it this way. They see everything. Your final transcript is basically the final copy.

Yeah--so no slacking off! No C's! I'm trying my hardest this semester in my love for SD.
