Conditions of Admission

My son is an athelete who was accepted to USC. While not a star athelete, my son is dedicated and communicated with a USC coach during the application process. The coach submitted the application to admissions and luckily my son was accepted. During the period of time of application review, my son experienced an injury which makes him unsure if he wants to participate in his sport at the college level.

The Conditions of Admission State:
1. Register with the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse (which he did last fall).

Does anyone know if his admission to the USC can be revoked if he does not play the sport in the fall?

Thank you!

I thought that for an admission to be contingent on a sport the student had to have signed a letter of intent. But I am no expert.

If he isn't a scholarship athlete then I don't think so, but I could be wrong

buzzwick, you might want to re-submit this question on a new thread with Athletic in the title. There are a lot of parents here very knowledgeable about admissions/athletic matters, but they might not pick up on your thread title. Something like "Athletic Conditions of Admission" or "Coach supported admit - now injured..."

Good idea, thank you!

Lots of kids quit college sports due to injury. PM MOmofWildChild and ask her about her son's injury.

The injury should not preclude him from being accepted. Usually, most D-1 schools let the acceptance (and the scholarship) ride. Good Luck!
