Confirmation Email?

Quick question: Does anyone know whether Yale sends out a confirmation email once the Common App, Supplement, and payment are all sent in? I know common app sent me confirmation, but I wasn't sure whether I should be looking for a Yale one as well...

You should receive info for your Eli account within the next 3 weeks since submitting. The Eli account allows you to track your application and is where you’ll find out your results come December 15.

What about interview information?

Y will let you know if there’s an alumni interviewer in your area, if there is, they will contact you:

[Frequently Asked Questions - Interviews | Yale College Admissions](Interviews | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions)

Sorry for this question if it’s been asked already… but how long does it take between submitting the app and getting a notification from Yale for the interview? The FAQ seems to suggest that they tell you if there’s an interviewer in the same email that they confirm that we’ve gotten our application?

There’s definitely a interviewer in our area, since my friends from the '10 year interviewed with an alumni.

^They send a confirmation email within three weeks. But I’m not sure about the interviews.

I think it depends on your area

A SCEA applicant in my area submitted their app on Sat night and got an email for an interview today.

Should I’ve concerned if I submitted my app on Wed and still don’t have an email?

No, when you hear back likely varies with where you live and how on the ball the alumni interviewer in your area is. Maybe T26E4 will weigh in as they’re an alumni interviewer. I’d guess that they’d want to have reports back on SCEA applicants by Dec or so.

Great, thanks for the help, entomom.

Also, sorry about the typos. I’m typing my replies from my iPod

Does every applicant get an interview or do they shortlist?

If I might slightly re-direct what entomom has said, I believe interviews depend largely on how responsive the local Yale alumni/ae chapter is. My understanding is that the admissions office sends off the lists of applicants to the local (roughly state-wide) chapters. What happens after that depends on each chapter’s level of organization and the schedule and commitment of its members. (T26E4 might say differently.) I was told the MN chapter (which covers western WI and parts of the Dakotas, too) tries to get to everyone but sometimes communication problems, schedules, and distances prevent it. Thus, not everyone gets interviewed and nothing should be made of it if it does not happen.

^Thanks Descartesz, I shouldn’t have made such an off the cuff remark :o. Interviewers contribute their time to conduct interviews and there are many reasons why applicants in different areas might get interviews sooner, later or not at all.
