I sent my application package on Friday but i just wanna be sure if it reached the college or not. So,I was wondering if they send an email confirming that my package has got there or do I have to send an email or call them to confirm that.

......someone,,,.......anyone........noone???????

So you didn't use any type of traking mail? Do they have a website that lists the status of your folder? Many schools tell you exactly what required elements of your application folder are in house.

Nah, i dont think there was any tracking mail as such. I guess i'll have to check the college website.

IF you took in an envelope to your school that was a traking mail I'm sure you would know. It will take a while for the school to update the site....be patient. If you are sending other applications I would recommend
www.usps.com/shipping/trackandconfirm.htm you then will not have to wonder everyday if your application materials have arrived. Of course there are other services such as FedEx, DHL, UPS you can use any of them.

Hi,

My D is a freshman so we went through this last year. The best thing to
do for you applications is use US Mail priority with tracking (but make
sure you don't get the serrvice that requires a signature, otherwise if
they deliver to the college and no one is there to sign fot it which usually
is the case on Saturdays, it'll will be delayed). The US mail tracking gives you
a tracking number and you can check online to see if it was deilvered.

I used DHL but me school sent the package so i dont know if they used the tracking mail service or not.

Anywayz, does anyone know when the decisions for the ED1 are generally sent?????I know Dec 20th is the deadline but i am so friggin' impatient........:(

P.S: Am i the only one applying ED to Bates here on CC??????

No you aren't. I did too. Sent mine in a few days ago. It's like...my favorite school ever.

Oh...I'm wondering about that too. I want to know if they come earlier than Dec. 20. Also, how many people do you think apply EDI? I know you have a significantly higher chance of acceptance doing early...even more so I would imagine with EDI.

Mostly around 400 ppl apply ED to Bates and around 180 get accepted.
ED acceptance rate:45%
RD rate: 30%

Not bad i guess.

I applied ED I to bates as well, and recently I recieved a letter of confirmation that gave me a username and a password at www.bates.edu/application so I can check the status of my application, and make sure they have all my materials, as well as financial aid stuff...I assumed all ED applicants had one?

anyways I HEART bates a lot, and I hope I get in, and It would def. be sweet if they sent out notification before dec. 20.

yay i applied ED to Bates too! where is everyone from who is applying ED? yeah I wish that we could find out sooner. are you guys starting your other college applications (all of the other colleges i would apply to are on the common app, but they all have supplements) before Dec. 20? I feel like I should but i really don't want to write all those "Why this school..." essays if I don't have to.

crossing my fingers for all of us

I STILL havent got my confirmation letter which is slowly but surely starting to freak me out a bit. :(

Claire, me too havent started on the RD apps. Jan 1st is the RD deadline for many colls i am applying to so I will have like 10 days to work on them but i hope i dont have to work on them at all.

BackinBlue- you or your counselor should call and make sure they received your application - they send out the confirmation the same day or next day after they receive the app.

As to notification - I think Bates is the only NESCAC school to list Dec. 20 as the "receive" date, but in some of their material, they list Dec. 15 as the send date - same as the other schools. So I'm guessing they use the Dec 20 date because they are confident that with a Dec. 20 mailing, all will have heard by the 20th; they don't want lots of frantic "I haven't heard yet" calls on the 17th or 18th. It's a good bet that they mail on the 15th, just like the other NESCAC schools. No email or online notification, which I think is good.

I meant "with a Dec. 15 mailing, all will have heard by the 20th"

blackinblue hang in there! deffinitly give the admissions office a call. If they haven't received it, at least they will know that you did send it and are planning to apply ED. yes, hopefully we wont have to be filling out any applications for Jan. 1 sigh

and wtidad...I received a pin # and website for the application status. Doesn't this mean I will be notified online?

anyone know how many people applied ED this year?

pheww.................................got it!!!!!! thumbsup

This may sound stupid but....erm............where am I supposed to enter the PIN and User ID. I dont see space for that on the applications webpage.

You should see username/id on the site. If you don't, it's because the browser you're using is probably not supported by their website. Try using Internet Explorer if you're not already. That's the only explanation I can think of.

Re. notification of acceptance/rejection online - no, Bates doesn't do that. The applicant's site really doesn't tell you much - just whether they got your application and fee and school report.

Is bates.edu/application.xml and bates.edu/application the same site.
Because the .xml page is being loaded but the latter cant be loaded at all. The prompt says "You cant connect beause SSL is disabled".
And it aint my bowser either coz i usually use IE but i also tried with Firefox but its the same.
And there i was giving "thumbsup" to everyone.......:(
Can anyone help????
