This thread is for those who have already gotten their acceptances from UW and who have already confirmed that they will be enrolling in UW this fall (whether you have made a deposit or not).

Let us know where you're from and which dorm/housing you'll be choosing. Or tell us anything else that you think will be relevant, such as your major.

I’m from Virginia, originally from Issaquah area in WA.
Looking at North Campus housing (McCarty, Hansee, McMahon, Haggett…) and maybe Poplar as well!
Major: International Relations or Studies, and Korean language and Chinese (Mandarin) language, though not sure which will be minor, double major, all that…

I’m from Illinois, but live right next to St. Louis, Mo. Currently I’m looking at either Lander Hall or Terry Hall as they offer the freshman year experience. My major is Microbiology, but I may try and change to Public Health if possible. I’m so excited for fall as UW is my dream school. :)

Heyyy I’m from China, however, I came to VA 2 years ago. I’m looking at the Haggett Hall since that’s where the Global Experience Community is located. My intended majors are international studies, music, environmental studies and engineering( all these major look ridiculously unrelated…and I’m still trying to decided as for which one to study in. Also I’m thinking about Double majors.) I’m really looking forward the start of autumn semester. Can’t wait to become part of UW and make new friends here~!!
Go Huskies!!!

Haha I really need to change by username now…
I’m from Arizona! I want to live somewhere in west campus most likely one of the new dorms (elm or alder). I plan on majoring in both biology and psychology with a pre-medicine emphasis. I was thinking about the pre-health themed community in elm.

Yay, fellow huskies! Forgot to add I’m from Singapore, by the way. And I think I’m going to skip housing on campus…had a bad experience with that one before. Seems like so far everyone here is from out of state. When are you guys planning to move to WA? And attend the A&O sessions?

I committed this morning I’m originally from Covington, Washington, but I’ve been living in South Korea for the past couple of years because of my dad’s job. I’m planning on majoring in either biology or psychology along with pre-med reqs for now, and am looking into the new Elm Hall. (Really similar to @StanfordGirl22!)

I’m from southern California and I committed last week; I’m so excited!! I am currently listed as pre-science, but I want to major in biology. Although, I haven’t decided if I want to do pre-med or head in the direction of cancer research! I havent looked into housing too much because I’m planning on rushing formal recruitment for a sorority :)

yay huskies! im excited to meet all of you in a few months! (well maybe not all but yeah). i was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for which dorm you guys have in mind? i don’t really have a clue yet… although the two new halls look pretty sweet are they more expensive though? sorry for all the questions… I CANT WAIT!
oh. and hi I’m wendy from taiwan, going to school in beijing. nice to meet you :P

I’m glad that Wendy resuscitated this thread- a far greater number of us know where we’ll be going now that May 1st has passed. I, for one, am really stoked about going to the UW! I hail from Pullman, WA, so come the Apple Cup it’ll be a house divided at home.
I’ll be majoring and minoring in some combination of European Studies/History, Art History, Germanics and Scandinavian Studies. Poplar Hall has really caught my fancy, especially now that it has the honors floor!
On a passing note- does anyone know of any international students that are coming here from Europe?
Cheers!

I’m from Oregon, but my family will be moving to Vancouver, WA in the fall. I’m a direct admit to computer science, and I want to live in McCarty.

Hi!
I am from Washington, have lived here all my life. I am sooo excited for this fall, it is going to be so great!
I am going to sign up for Elm Hall pre-health and engineering theme community on May 8th when the housing application opens.
I love reading all of the responses from international students! This is going to be so fun to meet so many people from around the world! I would not be brave enough to come from another country, thats for sure.
Has everyone signed up for advising sessions?
Mine is on July 30th and 31st, but I’m not exactly sure what we are doing. Does anyone know when we have to sign up for classes? Or when we take placement tests for math or foreign languages?
Thanks!

Wow, I am surprised at how many states are represented in just this one thread! May I ask, is UW Seattle good about giving money for Out of State? Any sort of OOS tuition waiver?

I’m from Illinois and UW is definitely one of my favorite schools.

I’m from Kazakhstan, but I have an American citizen and lived in Tacoma for four years before moving to China because of my dad’s work. I lived in China for four years and I’m really nervous about going back to the States.

My first choice dorm is Elm Hall and my second choice is McCarty and I’m going into Engineering after my freshman year. I’m also looking for a roommate so if you’re interested, PM me and we can get to know each other! :)
