Ok, so I’m a freshman at VT and this is my second semester. I’ve been trying really hard to mix in and have fun but it just doesn’t seem to be happening. There’s nothing wrong with VT, it’s a great school, but I just don’t feel ‘good’ or ‘right’ here. It feels like I’m not supposed to be here. The mistake I made, I didn’t go to other schools to see how I would feel there. (Ik it’s a terrible mistake). I just visited VT and decided that this place was it. Now when I’m being forced to think, I feel I made a mistake by coming here. Now I’m considering a switch because spending 4 years of your life at a place where you don’t feel good seems to me like a waste of money and time. I’m looking at GMU for now. My major is math right now but I’ll probably switch it to Economics. The question then becomes: 1) Will it be a step down for me if I go to GMU? 2) Is Economics department better in GMU?
Also, I’m a student who doesn’t like to party or go to games because I hate football (sorry :] ).
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
It’s not a step down if you find a better fit and the curriculum is what you want. GMU is a perfectly acceptable university as is VT. What is more important is that you will probably do better academically if you feel more at home so that will make a big difference.
