If I got a 2240, 730 on Math, 730 on CR, and 780 on Writing.....do you think this is high enough for Stanford's norm applicants, or should I try and retake it? I was told they only look at Math and CR usually and am worried if those scores are a bit low or not. Let me know.

Do you really have to post the same thread in three different forums?

Anyway, give us more details. What is your GPA? Your ECs? APs?

If you have a 780 in writing, I'm sure you can write a killer admissions essay. :)

Unless you think that you should have gotten much higher on math or CR I wouldn't bother to retake it. Those scores are high enough that they won't prevent you from getting in.

A 780 in writing says nothing about your ability to write a good essay.

Or rather, such an essay is to be expected?

Ideally you'd like to score above 1500 in CR+ Math to put yourself above the mean on each section. Unless you're an athlete, URM or have some other credentials that will make you stand out, I would try again to see it you could bring each section up a bit. The statistics for applicants who score above 1500 are clearly better that those who score in the 1400s. For HYPSM, they consider your best score on each section and you will be competing against many with better scores.

I retook a 2220 (1540 M+V) and ended up a 2330 (1600 M+V). I think it was worth it. If you think you can score higher, it wouldn't hurt - unless you've already taken the SAT 3+ times. In that case, I'd say you should be done.
