<p>A couple of the schools my son is applying to have due dates for the CSS before January 1st. Can I complete the CSS before the FAFSA? Am I estimating for this year? I am so confused and not sure where to find the information!!!</p>

<p>Yes, you can submit the profile before FAFSA and yes, you would be estimating income for 2014. </p>
<p>Is your son applying early action or early decision? Usually the Profile deadlines before the first of the year are for early applicants.</p>
<p>Early Action at several… and some RD with scholarship deadlines as well. No ED. Why is this so complicated? :)</p>
<p>If your kiddo is applying EA, then yes, you might have some schools with early priority deadlines for the Profile. Yes, you would complete the Profile using excellent estimates for 2014 income, etc. and yes you would do these to adhere to the early deadlines. And yes…you would do this before you complete the FAFSA which won’t become available until January 1.</p>
<p>Option B…complete the Profile for,the EA schools NOW, and submit. Wait for the RD schools because you can do those later, and perhaps after completed tax returns…using accurate 2014 tax return numbers.</p>
