Confused About EFC for Questbridge?

I'm very confused about the EFC required for finalists in Questbridge's National College Match, and I was wondering if I could get some clarification. I've been perusing a lot of Questbridge threads on here, and I've read that some Questbridge schools will only admit Finalists with an EFC of zero.

My family makes about $36,000 a year, and I used an EFC calculator online (AidCalc?) and it estimated my family's EFC at $710. I then used an EFC calculator on the Collegeboard website and it said that my Federal Methodology (FM) contribution would be $587. The Institutional Methodology (IM) contribution was then stated to be $0.

Which methodology do Questbridge partners use? Would anyone happen to know if they'd accept the IM methodology as an EFC of zero?

I'm incredibly interested in applying to Yale through the Match process, but I've heard that they only match with Finalists with an EFC of zero. I don't know if I qualify.

Thank you so much for your time. :)
(And I'm sorry for my ignorance regarding EFC matters. xD)

EFC through FAFSA? that’s the calculator that I would expect them to use.

Diana, you are fine. Most QB recipients have household incomes below $60,000, although there is a very small percent that are higher.

Alright, thank you so much.
It’s confusing, but thank you for clarifying it for me, GA2012MOM!

Diana, I can tell you from experience that whether you are matched or accepted regular decision, Yale financial aid is generous enough to allow you to attend, so you don’t have to pin all your hopes on being matched. Good luck!
