Wow, senior year...can't wait lol. Yeah, for about a month we had a quiz everday in Biology but my teacher is kind of unorganized so she forgets a lot. Marmadillo-I understand with the bond thing. My Biology will cut us some slack sometimes (we have some varsity cheerleaders in our class and they have a crazy schedule with 2 hour practices after school and then midnight practicies...weird).

thesiren - yes, US gov is a lot of reading - but for the memorization, it's a lot of the same stuff we've seen before. Our school district does a semester of US gov in 9th grade (i think it's a state requirement), so we already know term limits, the electoral college, etc. US history I found more difficult - maybe I'm just not a history person, idk.

Blazer - I have some friends in Gov and Euro and they HATE euro - might be the teacher, he's a bit podantic. World and US history were both very difficult to me, US had a worse test than World.

Lol...forgot to post my schedule lol:
Physics Honors
Pre-Calculus Honors (will not take any math AP's lol)
AP English Literature and Composition
AP Microeconomics (is this class hard)
AP United States Government and Politics (is this one too?)
Global Issues Seminar (Honors)
Advanced Two-Dimensional Art
Leadership (for student body officers)
...workin to the end :)

I am in AP Art History in school..I love this class!! This has boosted my weighted GPA..I have had a 100 in the class..it correlates with World History, because my art history teacher insists that we learn the backround history informationof each time period, and it gives me double review for World History..you will love this class, because it is basically memorizing the artist and the painting, and noticing little stuff about it, so that you can write and essay about it...AP Art History would be hard to self-study..because the book is thick and boring, but luckily the teacher gives us the outlines and goes over it with us, so that we don't have to use the book that much...if you are a history geek like me, you will enjoy the class..

I will be self studying this year for AP World History, AP Psychology, AP English Lang.... and the internship will be acting/theatre based, because that is one of my passions..

ForgottenHawk-your senior schedule look intense but i believe you can pull it off me-this what I think I might do-it is still tenative I agree. I am going to steal your format-sorry
Planned Senior Schedule
AP English and Comp
Algerbra III?
Three term courses for history-don't offer any year long courses
AP Biology
Madarin 2 or Spanish V
One or two arts class-maybe a computor class too
The study hall I have I will use to study for AP Art History

My teacher for AP Euro grades weird. I haven't gotten above an 86 on test and we don't have that many quizes or graded homework/projects, but I still have an A... I thought I had a B before I looked at my report card, but I'm not complaining. ^.^

Planned Senior Year Schedule:
AP English Lit
AP Calculus AB or Statistics
AP Chemistry or Biology, depends on junior year
AP US Government
German 4
Wind Ensemble
2 Blocks for Instrumental Academy

It'll probably stay that way because that's just how the class sequence goes anyways. I think that's a pretty slack year as long as the GCs don't schedule all of my APs on the same day. That would just be unbearable.

I wish we had weighted GPAs at our school. I have a 3.84 and am in the top 7% of my class (like, 35 out of 535), but there is no such thing as weighting. Many of us feel cheated by this - especially when applying to colleges - even though our valedictorians ARE usually people who took APs, Honors, etc, and still maintained a 4.0. Still, there are people who don't take APs just because it will lower their GPA and that doesn't seem fair.

My rant for the day...

Siren-

I was actually thinking of maybe self-studying AP Art History either junior or senior year. I think it'd be of particular interest to me since I am currently enrolled in AP Art Studio...and we do do some research in art history in that class.

Forgotton Hawk- Saw that you #1 choice is Princeton, you've probably seen on this board that no one can measure the chances for a school as selective is that..do well on the essays, convey your love for the school...you have a leadership position...Which EC's do you plan on continuing all the way up to senior year??.. Keep the grades up..and worry about doing the balancing act with school and your outside life..also don't be like me and try to cram all your tests within a year (I have to, because of time constraints, hopefully i do well)..schedule them a few months apart instead of a month apart..it will save you some stressing..but overall..everything looks good to me..

Misty - you have Algebra 3? What does that cover? It seems like Precalc/Trig/Calc would be more helpful for college, but then again it sounds like your school has different schedules (you keep saying 3 terms doesn't cover a full year, at my school that's a year and a half)

Oh btw this is kind of random but do you guys have AIM or some other instant messenging service? I think it'd be cool if we got into a chatroom or something.

How do you guys get internships? I wanted to get one for junior year but didn't know how to go about finding one. I dislike AP Euro with a passion as well. I really just dislike is methods of our writing. For our FRQ's, he tells us that we must write in pen and they must be 3 pages and we only have about 45 minutes. Also, he wants our papers to be 2 paragraphs with the thesis being the first sentence and then you state your argument in the first paragraph. Then in the second paragraph you begin by stating your second arguement and then restating your thesis. Does anybody else do their work like this and is this the best way to score well on the AP test? For our DBQ's he's a little more lenient though we still only have 45 minutes to read and write the information.

Siren- I am a total history geek(lol)
I think though I will also be able to do it though also because I took Art 1-my freshman year. it was a yearlong course and a lot of it dealt with the history of Art.
Actually that class helped me a lot with English for when we would talk about the peroid of time a book took place i was able to talk about the painting in that time peroid.
Also,Mr.B my art teacher might be able to help me

Forgotten Hawk- I think you will enjoy self-studying AP Art History..I have an art background, and that contributed a lot in my perception of some of the paintings, and atleast one essay on the AP test every year, will ask you the symbolism of the painting..and there really is no correct answer, because if you can back up your choice of symbolism with a good explanation, then you will get a good score on that essay portion..

marmadillo- pobrecito!! i would hate not having weighted grades, because it works against the people who are taking challenging courses..but at the same time, it cuts down on grade grubbers (the people who take the class, who have no interest in it other than to raise their rank)..ranking is a mixed concept...but atleast ranking is looked at along with other factors, so it's not the only deciding factor

Yeah, what's your AIM screen name? Mine is BlueDevil62190...haha that was before I realized how near impossible it will be for me to get into Duke and haven't had time to change it.

Thanks for the input Siren! All the ECs you see that I've participated in in both 9th and 10th grade I will definitely stick with and the ones that I've helped to start this year I plan to stick with all throughout high school.

And yeah, I know that Princeton's basically a crapshoot and no one could measure my chances. How about the other schools? I'm thinking I stand a pretty great chance at the UC's, at least.

My sn on AIM is Rainhawk783. :]

My sn's marmadillo06

Do colleges prefer your weighted or un-weighted GPA? I always thought it would be impressive to have like a 3.75 un-weighted GPA but then realized that kids in CP classes could have the same thing. The only problem is I don't know how to calculate my weighted GPA lol.

Marmiadillio-sorry if i have confused you but three terms covers a year but for history during my senior year they only offer term courses.
Algebra III I think it covers trignometery/Algebra
I would take Pre-Calc but that class is especially hard at my school and I need to be recommended for it -which will never happen so I have to take Algebra III-
