Confused about legacy...please help.

I always thought of legacy as parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I have an uncle that attended Cornell University as an ugrad and was planning on including him. On the common application, however, it says ONLY to list parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents who attended the specific institution. This is really odd. Some friends of mine, as well as other people I know who have applied to Cornell last year, listed other relatives on the part of the Cornell application which asked for legacy. Did they change it for this year? Can I still include an uncle that attended Cornell?

They are there to answer questions and you have one.

but in general the more distant the legacy the less the effect. Probably because the distance makes them less likely to stop contributing :)
