So, I'm a senior in high school and I've already received all my admission statuses... Well, it hasn't looked good for me, I got rejected from 5/6 schools and the one I made was Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (MCPHS) in the Doctor of Pharmacy program (0-6 year program).

MCPHS was never really my dream school because I never intended to become a pharmacist. I honestly have always wanted to become a veterinarian since I was even 7 or 8. I always thought of MCPHS as a back up. Anyways, if I go to MCPHS, I had planned on doing the PharmD program, but to rotate veterinary medicine as a career, but I honestly not sure if I want to go there because I've heard some bad things online from there, but my two cousins seem to like it there. Is it as bad as others say it is? By the way, it's not like I didn't get into some of the schools because I'm stupid or anything or that I don't try hard, I have a 3.83 GPA and I am ranked 108 out of 810 students, but then I heard the third and fourth year of MCPHS is difficult. Also, would I be allowed to transfer out of MCPHS after two years into another school, but to major as a veterinarian not as a pharmacist to like University of California, Davis? Not sure what to do...

Either I go to MCPHS or I go to community college. I'm not sure if community college is the better route, well I definitely do not mind attending community college, it is definitely not a big deal to me, is it more worth it, especially due to the fact that I have been hearing it's getting much harder to get into community colleges and that it's taking more than two or three years to even just be able to transfer out of it.

Thanks in advance, honestly I think what I said what just gibberish and not clear, so if you have any questions on what I just said, please ask!

You need to do some research on Vet School admission to find out if the first two years at MCPHS would give you enough coursework to prepare for Vet School. You could start by visiting the Pre-Vet Forum.
Oh I’m not trying to transfer to a Veterinary profession school after two years, but like to transfer into a undergraduate school since MCPHS is a 6 year program, I don’t want to be stuck there if I go, but thanks for your help.

Sorry to hear that you were rejected from all your other schools (I’m guessing you tried the UCs, but they were really random in admitting people this year…). If you’re really set on being a vet, then I suggest that you go to CC and take some classes. Then, maybe in your second year, you can transfer into a normal undergrad and go to vet school then. I really don’t see why you would want to go to MCPHS. I understand that it’s a “normal” college, but it’s a direct program to getting a PharmD. There’s no point in enrolling in such a program if you have no intention to become a pharmacist. Plus, I have heard some bad things about MCPHS also, which is why I’m also not going there.

Yes, you can transfer out after two years. I expect that a fair number of students do so.

However, if you know now that pharmacy is not for you, it makes more sense to look around for other options for the fall. If you don’t like the idea of community college, maybe something on this list will work: [List of Late Deadline Schools- Locate Colleges with Late Application Deadlines at Petersons.com](http://www.petersons.com/college-search/late-deadline-schools.aspx)

Thanks, yeah UCs were really random this year, my cousin who works at UCSD and who also use to work for the Admission Office at UCSD said I should have had a pretty good shot at UCD and UCI, but I didn’t, I do have to say I was really lacking on standardized testing… Yes, there is a big chance I might attend a community college, I’ve already applied to about three or four for the summer session. That is true, I’m not sure why I’m thinking of still going, there’s a part of me that says take a chance, do it and there’s another part of me that says just go to community college…
I just don’t know what to do. My mindset is that if I stay at home I won’t change in like a good way as in become a more independent person and student… Such a difficult decision for me… >_<

Oh really? Thank you, glad to know I can if it comes to it. Thanks for the link. :)

I definitely know how that feels. I know that it feels more… ideal to go to MCPHS to experience a normal college life, but it’s more practical and cheaper to go to CC for one year. But after the first year, when you apply to transfer, you can then live the college life and become more independent. It sucks not being able to go to college directly, but it’s not really that bad. I had a friend who went to CC this year and transferred into UCSD for the next year. He doesn’t seem too upset about it and was still able to have fun and balance his work pretty well.

You sure speak the truth. That’s true, but don’t you have to maintain your grades pretty high at community college, not saying you shouldn’t have low grades ever, but yeah. And really, one year? I thought people transferred after two years?

Make an appointment with the transfer counselor at your closest community college and find out where their students transfer to. You don’t necessarily have to stay for a full two years.

Alright thank you you’ve been a lot of help, by the way my aunt said I should attend MCPHS just to be on the safe side and if I don’t end up wanting to transfer out after two years, I have a secure position with staying in MCPHS.
