confused about sat/act

I have always been under the impression that pretty much all schools that want SAT Subject tests would either take a)the SAT Reasoning with Writing + SAT Subject tests OR b)the ACT with writing.

Under these beliefs I had planned to just focus on the ACT with Writing as my Standardized testing for colleges. But last night as I was looking through online information (particularly College Board) I became very confused and worried. It appeared as though colleges such as Cornell, Dartmouth, and Brown want the SAT Reasoning with Writing or the ACT with Writing as a base, and then on top of that it seemed that applicants are required to submit SAT Subject tests (regardless of which other test they submit; ACT or SAT).

So now I am very confused and worried. For these schools do I have to submit SAT Subject tests regardless of my choice between SAT Reasoning and ACT?

OR

Can I choose between a)the SAT Reasoning with writing plus SAT Subject tests and b)the ACT plus writing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

you must take: the NEW SAT (w/ writing- out of 2400) + 2 subject tests

OR

the ACT + the writing section + 2 SAT subject tests

yeah buddy. treat the sat reasoning/act test as completley independent from that of the subject tests. you're gonna be taking subject tests, no matter what

You're on the Cornell board. Cornell doesn't require SAT subject tests if you take the ACT.

well it cant hurt if u have high Subject Test scores...just take them anyways in case another college u go to requires them

You need to go to the specific college at Cornell and see the requirements. Somewhere on their website they have a chart that shows all the requirements and some colleges at Cornell most definitely require subject tests not in addition to the ACT or SAT.

For the College of Arts and Sciences, TWO SAT Subject tests are required.

Test requirements vary by college. Check it out.

Maybe I was talking to ILR admissions. I thought I was talking to general admissions. Sorry.
