Confused about Superscore?

I keep hearing people talk about their "actual SAT score" and they "SAT superscore".
All I know so far is that by combining the highest score in the individual section of your SATs, you get the superscore.

However, which score do colleges look at? And why is the superscore useful to us? Any info would help. Thanks!

Every college has a different policy regarding which SAT scores they look at. Some might look at your highest one-sitting score and others might consider your highest individual sections scores across different test dates. You can check the policy of every college at the CB website.
