Confused about teacher recommendations!!

Hello.

I am confused about the teacher recommendations part-

can I submit recommendations from A & B teacher's rec to some colleges, and submit B & C teacher's rec to some colleges, etc?

Thanks.

bump bump bump bump

I really need an answer to this :(

Most people send in 2 teacher recs, but I think you can send different sets of 2 for each college through the common app. Someone should probably verify this though

yes, you can definitely choose which recs to send to which schools. Your example where three teachers have uploaded recs for you would allow you to choose any two of them for any school. It is fine to choose different combinations of recs for different schools. Any rec you do not choose to submit to a school will not be visible to that school.

My kids’ high school used an interface between Naviance and the Common App to upload the teacher recs. They did allow her to specific different recs for different schools, but we needed some help from the guidance counselor office to do this. So talk to your GC office in September about it.

I got 5 teachers to write recommendations for me and picked which schools each would go to according to the subject they taught and how selective the school was.

As students, we can see what the teachers wrote, right? Or is it private?

@intparent
Were you actually able to pick teachers through Naviance and have it link to Common App? I thought the two systems were not “talking” to each other yet and wouldn’t be synched up til Sept (which is incredibly frustrating!) My son is waiting to hear back from our guidance dept who themselves are very confused about how to advise students. My son has a rolling app school but can’t finish it cause the Recommender situation with Common App and Naviance doesn’t seem to be resolved. But it sounds like maybe it worked for you? Maybe its working now?

@Buenavida, you cannot see the recommendations teachers and your counselor send for you.

Thanks, niceday, i will keep that in mind
