hey guys, i'm an indian and i am in 12th grade. i wana go to u of t, mcgill, university of british columbia. first of all i'm pretty messed up about which test to take, SAT or toefl. secondly i did score pretty well in my 10th grade, buy my 11th performance is really really bad. and i dont even have much co-curriculars to show. I just want to ask is there any chance for me getting into these universities even if i manage to get a good score in my SAT or toefl?

Sat is mandatory

but i am thinking of going to canada. is it mandatory for universities of canada too?
i got 10cgpa in 10th but in 11th i got 60%. if i get good marks in sat, what do you think will a good university take me? and yes do tell me do international students get scholarships easily?

SAT’s and TOEFL are completely different tests and for international students they are both mandatory in most colleges. SAT’s are aptitude tests, TOEFL is a test of English. You need to take them both, plus at least a couple of SAT Subject Tests of your choice. Get into colleges’ websites and the College Board website for SAT’s, and for TOEFL check out ETS which organizes them. Each college is slightly different in their test requirements so the best help will be from the horse’s mouth.

Also, if you speak English well, you don’t have to study for TOEFL at all, except maybe familiarize yourself with the test – which you can do through the ETS website.

SAT’s however are a completely different story. You really have to study for them, take many practice tests etc. to obtain a “respectable” score.

Good luck.

i went on the sites of all the universities of canada and it says that all you need to take is the toefl, and rest we will select you on your high school scores. In all of those sites, sat isnt mentioned anywhere. that’s why i am a little confused.

Oh sorry, I was talking about US colleges. Yes of course, Canada has its own rules.

BChanakya: SAT is not mandatory even in the US. There are colleges do not require SAT (or ACT) scores.
