Confused about the National AP Scholar Award?

Thanks for your help in advance C:

I was just a bit confused on the qualifications for the award. CB says that a National Scholar Award is...

"Granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams."

So my question is, if I received 5s on a total of 8 exams but also received a 3 on one exam, does that mean I cannot receive the award? I received the AP Report yesterday and it still says that I am an AP Scholar with Honor ): I was wondering because on the bottom, it mentions:

"There are two steps to calculating the awards: First, the student's average AP score is determined based on all exams taken this year and in previous years. Second, the student's exam scores are checked to see which ones count toward the various awards -->(e.g., an exam with a score of 3 does not count toward a National AP Scholar Award)."

So wouldn't that mean that I still qualify?

Thanks again! (:

You got 5s on eight exams so you fulfilled that requirement. If you calculate your average AP score, it comes out to 4.78. So yes, you will qualify for this award.

Then why did the letter still say “2009 AP Scholar with Honor?” Aren’t they supposed to update that on the score report?
Thanks for your help!

You will receive the National AP Scholar award. You have 4 or higher on eight or more exams, and your average is well above a four, so you’re good.

As for the awards, I believe they list it for previous years. If you got your junior year score report, then your awards should state what you were eligible for after your sophomore year.

Thanks everyone! I was already getting worried… :)
