confused about wisconsin

ok, a few weeks ago i get a letter from wisconsin that reads basically like a denial, but at the bottom has a signature line and offer to be put on a wait-list if the letter is signed and mailed back. i send it immediately. my first question is, do i actually have any chance of getting off the wait-list? how many kids usually get waitlisted at uw, and how many do they accept? whats the timetable for letting people know whether theyve gotten in off the wait-list?

my other question though: today i go online and check the application status thing there. it says they regret to inform me that they are unable to offer me admission. no mention of a wait-list or anything. what does this mean? am i off the wait-list and onto the denied list now? or does wisconsin not keep their site that relevant so as to include wait-list status?

im gonna call them tommorow, but was hoping somebody might have an answer for me before then.

what were your stats and what is your location?

i know someone who got accepted after being on the wait list for a while. It really depends on how many people turn down admission to go someplace else. It is possible to be admitted if you are on the list, but you might end up having to make a really fast decision so know what you want ot do ahead of time for both getting accepted or denied. As for the website and all that, i have no idea.
