CONFUSED? AP Chem or AP Physics

Go w/ AP CHEM! Physics isn't needed THAT much to be a doctor.

Eh, the issue here isn't "what's needed to be a doctor." What you need to be a doctor you learn in medical school. The issue here is AP credit and doing well in the college classes.

well, the way the OP said that s/he wants to be a doctor made me think that s/he wants to go in the usual way, as one would suspect, the BioChem or Bio major.....in that case, taking AP CHEm, will help u quite a lot....not requiring to take those eliminary classes, and getting right into the core....

I intend to major in Psychology while taking the premed requirements. The question I was trying to ask was what class would you need that "extra" background in to have the advantage? Since it is a premed requirement to have 2 years of chemistry and only one of Physics wouldn't it be better to take AP Chemistry?

( I am equally strong in both subjects, and i can't avoid the AP exam for either subject).

To repeat: Depends on what sort of college you plan on going to.

Hey, I actually told you take AP Chem.

I'm in the same dilemma. I can choose either IB Chem or IB Phys.

I want to go pre-med too, but I'm choosing IB Phys because I wanna get my share of physics before college. I took chem before.

Just an update :)

If you enjoy physics over chem., why do you even have a question? Go with what you enjoy. Physics requires calc., but I assume, you have taken calc.

I took GT Chem (AP level, but no AP test), but I've never even touched Physics.
I'll forgo regular physics and go to AP because my math (Calc) skills are good enough.

thanks for the replies!

wait, why not just take both?

I dont have enough room on my schedule.

laker23172- I was actually in the same situation as you and had to choose between several classes. I asked a similar question in several forums- hope you find these helpful!

Instead of anatomy take both AP's

Yeah that's what I finally decided to do

thanks a lot!!

chem, physics sux

i guess im bitter after taking honors phys, worst experience of my ife

I took both and I would say Physics was much easier than Chem, although on the tests, I got a 4 in Chem and a 3 in Physics. Also, if you're planning to do pre-med, you have to do a year of physics anyways, so it's better to get a general background on it first, as you probably have taken chemistry before, correct?
