Confused as to why I didn't get an AES

Hi everyone. I was accepted to UTD back in November and didn’t receive an AES. My stats are:

-3.4 unweighted GPA, 8 AP classes
-2040 SAT & 2100 SAT, 1440 M + R if you combine the two
-34 ACT (I sent this in pretty late, so I don’t know whether UTD received it on time)
-Barely any extracurriculars

I did get a C in pre-calc last year, so that might have impacted their decision. Do you guys think I could successfully appeal for a scholarship?

Also, this might be a dumb question, but are you required to have a completed financial aid application in order to be considered? Because my parents haven’t submitted their tax returns yet.

Oh, and I’m instate by the way.

I think your GPA could have been the problem with the C in pre-calc and your class ranking would have been considered as well. Your parents financial information in not needed for the AES scholarships. You could go ahead and appeal the decision. I don’t know if you will be successful but the worst they could say is no.

GPA could be an issue, though probably only slightly. Mine was about the same and I got 2nd level AES. My M+R SAT was only 20 points higher. You’re probably too late to appeal, but you should send admissions an email. I did and they were pretty responsive (i.e. replied within 24 hours).
