Confused by my FA letter

Online and in a paper they gave me, the calculated cost for a year is 48,770. On my actual FA letter, the school put the budget as 54,450? I'm confused as to what to use, and the FA office won't answer my calls (I called earlier, but the person who takes care for people with my last name wasn't in)

Also the Stafford Loan came up twice, one unsubsidized and one subsidized. I'm totally lost on loans, so which one would be better?

The Unsubsidized came out to 2,000 a year, and the subsidized loan came out to 3,500

Yes the Stafford Unsubsidized of $2,000 and the Stafford Subsidized of $3,500 are pretty much standard operating procedure for Freshmen year. The Unsubsidized will have interest accrue for all 4 years, The Subsidized one will not.

If you do not want to borrow these funds you can refuse them, just pay the $5500 instead.

One might be the “direct costs” to the school (tuition, room, board, fees). The higher price might add in books, travel, personal expenses, and insurance.
