Confused college student. Accounting major, but thinking to change

Hello,

I am currently taking the entry courses(intermediate) for accounting.
I was very interested in the subject last year and I aced my first ACC class.

Now the material seems so dry and boring. It's just all about SOX and the rules. (yea I know it's all about that.)

ACC just does not interest me anymore. I am not a math person either(dont mind it, but just cant see me doing it all day).
If i study i will do well, but the problem is; I dont have the will to study. I just cant force myself to sit on the ACC book and stare at the rules and numbers.
Im not that type of person.

I have 84 credit currently and I need 124 to grad. So I basically need to take few more classes and all the major classes. I would say about a year and a sem more.

I know I want to stick with a business school, but I have a huge interest for computer and technology.
I like working with computer programs, hardware, and software.
I enjoy working with computers!

You might say I am in the wrong school, but I love it here(Baruch).
My GPA is 3+, so that's not a problem. I have gotten a few internships in MKT and FIN, but not accounting. I couldnt get one :(

I am thinking of switching to one of the following majors

-CIS (closest to computers)
-MKT (did a few internships, i love team work)
- or Finanace if anything.

I just think ACC is too boring for me and prof. dont even try to make it a bit of exciting.

What do you think about CIS and MKT?
I hear it's really hard to find jobs in those areas. I am in NYC btw. what are my chances and how is the pay compared to accounting.

I want to go to Grad. School as well. I have a GPA of 3.7 currently.
Can I choose any major now, then do something else in grad school?

..for example I do CIS and later do Finance or MKT?

any insight would be greatly appreciated.

marketing is pretty good, look into who recruits from the school and if you think you've got a good shot with it and employment go for it. NYC is a big place, i'd imagine there'd be a lot of marketing jobs available, they don't pay the best at the start, but there's room for growth and grad school.

double? (10 chars)

You could always finish your degree in Accounting and then go to graduate school to get your MBA.

If you change majors, or concentrations in business, it might set you back a semester or more.

You're so close to being finished.

Accountants do a lot of work with computers, and less and less math. My advice is similar to granted_business, you may want to consider just staying the course in accounting and seeing where it takes you... accounting is in demand as an undergrad major, and it opens doors to many different types of careers.... don't let one class or so blind side you, because you may end up finding that computer classes are boring as well. Just my .02

I also attended Baruch when I was an undergraduate. It had a very strong accouting program at the time and, from what I know, it still does have a strong program.

Personally, I would stick with it, as noted in post 4, and see where it takes you. You should take as many computer courses as electives as possible. You could always get a masters in something later on. Having an accounting background is one of the best undergradate majors for jobs. HOWEVER, if you really don't like the subject and find yourself doing poorly, maybe switching would be the better choice.
