I just received a letter saying that I was rejected for the Deans' Honor Scholarship, but I most certainly didn't apply for it. I barely even applied to the school (the application was free), but they gave me $80,000 in the form of a "Founders' Award." Did they automatically submit me for the Deans' Honor Scholarship or what?

Since the "barely applying" stage, I've come to seriously consider going to Tulane, even without the scholarship. I'd just like to know if I can possibly get any more financial aid, and if I can perhaps apply for better scholarships now that Tulane is a top contender;

If you submitted the personal application, they automatically "considered" you for DHS. However, it's a bit confusing because you still had to submit the DHS application to actually win the scholarship.

I don't know anything about your financial situation, so I can't say, but you can receive additional money in the form of a Tulane grant if you have additional need that is unmet by the scholarship you are awarded for merit. My son has this additional Tulane grant on top of his DSA. You need to look at the whole package, which you will see after you have submitted the financial aid documents.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help!

I got one of those too last year. There is a place on the personal app that says if you may consider applying for it and if you checked it they put you in the running. Obviously, if you, like me, didn't apply, you wouldn't get it:-) Don't worry, it happens to lots of people.
