I am currently a first year biomedical and mechanical engineering we are studying almost the same courses that other engineering do. the confusion i have in my mind is would be possible to work as a mechanical engineering in the future. on other words, could i replace the mechanical engineering or not.
i am thinking to change my major to mechanical and then specialize in biomedical...

what do u think guys...please i need your opinions in that.

so right now you’re double majoring in BME and Mech E? sounds insane!

Usually engineering programs have sequence electives where you get specialization in other areas. Check with your school’s degree program to see whether or not you can do BME as a specialization. If you can, you should definitely consider it since doing both of those majors would be very difficult

IMO, you are better off studying either BME or ME.
It would be more benefical to gain more knowledge by getting into the work force, and getting a graduate degree in either specilization.

Two questions you must think about:
Why did I choose BME? Why did I choose ME along side?
Which one do I enjoy more?

Magneto is right. BME has several specialized tracks (of course it depends on your school…)

I would never do double majors. Consider ME has to take courses that aren’t revelant to BME. So why waste time on completing a double major? No. Double majors don’t boost your resume. It doesn’t help you getting more jobs because by the time you graduate you probably have forgotten half of the stuff that aren’t related to BME (and BME mechanical)
