Hi. As you all can tell, I'm new to this forum. I had a question on which division I should aim for at U.C. Berkeley. If I wanted to design and create hardware such as processors and hard drives, would that fall into the Computer Science category or Electrical Engineering Computer Science (EECS)? I know, it seems like an easy question to answer, but for some reason, my counselors haven't been able to give me a straight answer. They tell me to "research what you want to do yourself." Any help and opinion on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EECS i am pretty sure, computer science by itself has nothing to do with hardware....

in the EECS category, is there a lot of competition when it comes to jobs? Since designing hardware is just a thought right now, should I reconsider and aim for something else? Thanks for the response
