Confused on major choices

What exactly is the difference between information science and computer science?

Is there a website that carefully explains each major...

kthxbye

IS is primarily aimed at business related applications: MRP systems, front office, back offfice, sales mgmt tools. All that sort of stuff.
CS is a more general focused major that tends to work a little bit back towards the development side. If you really want to go towards the development side then you go with CE.

check princetonrevie for descriptions of majors- they also list similar careers, similar courses, typical course requirements, etc

try wikipedia web site

Is information science the new name for librarian?
There is also information technology (IT) which deals more with software applications than computer science, CS is hardware and programming, encryption, etc....a very difficult subject.

Computer engineering and software engineering are related to these.
