Confused over choosing the right college

Hi everyone

I am a premed and a transfer student and I have been accepted to UCLA and UCD. Both the schools are offering me Regents scholarship and Davis is also offering ISHP contract which comes along with being a Regents scholar.
I am torn apart between my choices because my mind says Davis is good because its close to where I live right now, will give me better growth opportunities and a lot of my friends are going to Davis. The ISHP provides close interaction with faculty members too. But my heart is in La because first its La, how can you not want to go there, and second it will be a new place for me explore. I haven't been to La, ever (I don't if this will be an advantage or disadvantage).
My long term goal is to get into a prestigious medical school and for that I need a solid GPA and research and internships experiences along with an excellent MCAT score.
I don't know how ISHP fairs against the honor's program at UCLA. Which of the schools will provide me with greater and more accessible growth opportunities?
I also feel that people at Davis will be more relaxed and flexible than at La, just because La has a prestige to hold up to.
I don't mind if the school is close to home or not because I'll be living in dorm anyways.
Money is not an issue, I just want to go to a school that will provide better accessible research and growth opportunities.
Your opinions are highly valued. Greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Alert: This is biased because I go to Davis.

Davis is awesome! :)

I go to UCD, and my sister went to UCLA. I can say that the school are very similar, but UCLA does have a bit higher prestige. But UCD has many connections to Silicon Valley, which is something to think about.

I am from southern california, and I can say that the people up here in Davis are WAY more relaxed and friendly than down there. It was a major change when I moved up here. Plus, Davis is a college town, while LA is…LA. I don’t really like LA because it seems so dirty and packed all the time. I like SF a lot more.

I can’t say much about the honors programs, but I did get invited to the Davis honors program. I did not accept because I already had too much to do.

I can say, though, that I’m a freshman and I already have a job and a research position (I think I got pretty lucky though).

Hope this helps!

My vote would be Davis.

I have a friend there and it is quite a relaxed and ascetically pleasing place. The academics are great and it is clearly the place you are leaning towards based off of your initial post

Since you are interested in Med school, just get a high GPA and MCAT at Davis and you should be fine. UCLA is certainty more prestigious but Davis will not limit you.
