I have always been under the impression that pretty much all schools that want SAT Subject tests would either take a)the SAT Reasoning with Writing + SAT Subject tests OR b)the ACT with writing.

Under these beliefs I had planned to just focus on the ACT with Writing as my Standardized testing for colleges. But last night as I was looking through online information (particularly College Board) I became very confused and worried. It appeared as though colleges such as Dartmouth, Cornell, and Brown want the SAT Reasoning with Writing or the ACT with Writing as a base, and then on top of that it seemed that applicants are required to submit SAT Subject tests (regardless of which other test they submit; ACT or SAT).

So now I am very confused and worried. For these schools do I have to submit SAT Subject tests regardless of my choice between SAT Reasoning and ACT?

OR

Can I choose between a)the SAT Reasoning with writing plus SAT Subject tests and b)the ACT plus writing?

i'm a '10 and i took SAT with writing along with 2 SAT subject tests. i'm pretty sure that the ACT with writing replaces the subject tests though.

I think Frenchie is correct: It is the ACT w/writing OR the SAT I (includes the writing section) w/ 2-3 SAT II subject tests (Yale wants 3 subject tests).

Thus taking the ACT means you only have to sit for one test.

If you take the ACT, you must take the ACT with writing and 2 SAT II subject tests.

All applicants to Dartmouth, including those who apply from foreign countries, are required to take the following:

Either the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT I) or the examination of the American College Testing Program (ACT).

Please Note: Students may submit scores from either the old SAT I or the new SAT I (with writing). Similarly, students may submit scores from either the regular ACT (if taken prior to February 2005) or from the ACT with writing (if taken in February 2005 or after).
