Confused.. Rhodes, OSU, or LSU?

Hey everybody,
Dont know if this is the right place to post this.. I might post this in the College Search as well.

Anyway, I got accepted to all three and wondering on which one to go. Rhodes is the only one close to my house. Noone post in the LSU forum so dont really know much about it. Got deferred from my top choice, but I am over it now. :) I just grateful that I got in somewhere.

Visited all three of them and liked them all. Also, All of them gave me merit scholarships so money is alil factor.

So I was wondering which is the best for me..

Can anybody give me a list of pro/cons for these schools? And what you guys think about them? Oh yeah, which one is like the best for med school maybe? Opinions?

I know these school arent IVy League, but I could really use some help.

Thanks guys.

I can't really tell you about Rhodes or OSU, but I do live in Baton Rouge, so I know a lot about LSU. LSU and Rhodes are complete opposites in terms of size. Rhodes has 1000 students...LSU has about 25,000. A lot of students (or at least a lot of the people I know that go to LSU) are kinesiology majors. A big problem there is scheduling classes. Unless you are an athlete or honors student, it's really hard to get the classes you want as an underclassman because so many people need those classes. Also, when you are getting into the upper levels of your major, it can be difficult because they only offer a few sections of certain classes. A kinesiology major was telling me the other day that she was having trouble, because all the kinesiology and med students needed the same classes, and there wasn't enough sections offered.

LSU is HUGE on football. It's a big, big deal, and everyone tailgates for hours, or days before the games. If you hate that kind of thing, you will definitely be in the minority there.

If you want to be in a sorority or fraternity, LSU has great Greek life. Baton Rouge has awesome food. You will definitely have fun going here, but I guess it really depends on if you don't mind going to be big school. The honors college here is good, and if you are in that, getting classes will be a lot easier since you pick first.

I'm not sure about how good it is in regards to getting into med school, but honestly, every college is going to be what you make of it. You can go to a small school and have a class of 20, or go to a large school and have a class of 300, but in the end, it's really all up to you. If you go to the class that has 300 people and sit in the front row, then it probably doesn't matter that it's so big.

I hope that helps a little bit :)

isn't there alot of racial tension at lsu ?

Honestly, I don't go to LSU (not in college yet, but I could end up going there), but many of my friends do, my brother does, and I'm there all the time for various things. At the same time, I do hear things, but I don't have first hand knowledge because I don't live on the campus. There this big deal about the Purple and Gold confederate flag last year, which is still ongoing, which I'm sure a lot of people heard about. A lot of the people who wanted to fly it was because of Southern pride, and others, probably for racial reasons.

I guess it's all about who you are friends with. Sure, some people are like that, and some people aren't. The campus has about 30,000 people in all, so there are so many people there, and they are all going to have different opinions. Honestly, controversial opinions are the ones that you are going to hear about, so I guess it seems like everyone is like that. But I'm not going to say that everyone there is awesome and that they all get along.

Sorry, that's not much help. Again, I don't go to LSU, just trying to provide what information I can.

Visited Rhodes, it's a great school. Nice city. If you want the big school, big football, 50k people, go to OSU or LSU. If you want to be in classes of 20 with teachers that will know your name go to Rhodes. It's preference, really.

Thanks for the helpful input about LSU and Rhodes, BayouKat and Sibelius.
You guys are very infromative and helpful..

Im in the Honors prog in LSU, so its kinda cool to schedule first. I think OSU does the same thing.

Anyway can anyone tell me alil about OSU? Like the environment? Oh yeah, isnt the neighborhood that surrounds LSU.. not that good?
